Description
For #PKMN-Armonia house emblem contest. You know, I wasn't originally going to participate... But when you wake up 6 a.m. in the morning, and all you can think of is: "I GOTTA design those house emblems!", then by god you gotta design some house emblems.
With my designs, I went with the shield shape, just like armonia's official emblem, [link] and it was a big starting point for my designs. I wanted all of these look somewhat like the original and make them all similar in design so that they look like they are from a same set.
Only PKMN-Armonia group has the permission to use these if I happen to win the contest!
Tesla
I think this was the easiest to make of these. Almost everyone has used gears in their designs (theme was technology and innovation) and who I am to blame? They are cool.
Cordelia
This was... Interesting to make. The theme of Cordelia is tradition and it took me a while to think how I could show that and how to decorate this. When I think of tradition, I think of something old, even ancient. My starting point was East since that seemed to be the theme of the house (their dorm room is decorated in Eastern theme) thus I was thinking of old rice paper and Chinese/Japanese letters but those are always very risky to do if you don't know the language and I didn't want to write nonsense. So what to do? Unowns of course! I consider them the ancient pokemon letters so why not?
I think this is weakest when considering how I showed the "theme" but visually, I like it.
Selva
Ah! Now this was... "fun." When I started to make this, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate it but it took me three tries before I was happy with it. The theme was "nature" and since milotic is the founder, of course, the beauty is there too in my design.
Fable
Hands down, my favourite. The theme of Fable is legends and myths and first I was thinking something like the papers in Cordelia or ribbons or something like that. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that legends and myths strike me as very beautiful, but also fragile things. Only thing that keeps them alive, is the fact that we believe in them.
Thus, I wanted to do something very fragile looking but beautiful decoration. I looked inspiration from a Finnish mythology "Kalevala" and ended up being inspired by a jewel series of the same name. The jewel, that inspired me heavily here is called "Naisen Ääni" (woman's voice").
Amity
And last, Amity, with the theme of "balance and ying/yang". This also made me ponder the decorations for a while. The ying/yang ball on top and bottom were obvious but I didn't know what to put on sides. I didn't want to use balance scale like some already had. Then I decided to look inspiration from Celtic designs. They have these beautiful symmetrical symbols that seemed to fit perfectly for this theme because when I think of balance, I also think symmetry.
So, here are my entries! Hope you enjoy them! I must say, I am very pleased how these came out! And I swear... Even after this... I still can't remember all the house names by memory!
