3D Twinkle and random Octopus by TamarinFrog 3D Twinkle and random Octopus by TamarinFrog
So yeah, I do 3D art too. I'm studying this actually and hopefully someday my job involves doing something like this. (though I love normal 2D work too).

Since I don't have much free time to do new art, I'm browsing through my computer to look some old art and found these and figured, why not and decided to post these. Something original for a chance huh?

So here's my Twinkle in its 3D form. You can tell I still have a lot to learn. I have no idea how to make realistic looking clothes and fabrics so its hat doesn't look realistic.. But Twinkle itself looks pretty cute. And let's make it clear... Yes, Twinkle and Starfy look alike (even though Twinkle's legs are way shorter and Starfy's eyes are smaller) but they are two complitely different things. Twinkle is a shooting star and grants whishes with its hat and Starfy... Is he a star or starfish? I don't even know.

And a random octopus... With a bowler hat!!! Isn't he cute?

Now for some technical stuff. Twinkle is done with 3D Max which we use at school. Octopus is done with blender. Blender is actually a free 3D program you can download from net and as you can see, it's not that bad. Unfortunately both programs can be hard to learn if you don't have a good tutorial. I luckily had a real life teacher.

Twinkle & Bowler octopus (c) me

...I really have to star working on that 5 page essay now...

3ds max, about it, well there's a 99% chance that you won't answer this but still, how did you make the mouth of twinkel? and for the had irecomend to use the "cloth" modifier, it works for me....

Hey the 1% happened!

Ah, it has been so long since I made these so it is hard to remember... And I remember trying the cloth modifier but it didn't work the way I wanted and I think it makes things so HEAVY and the computer barely likes to work. But yeah, that Twinkle was one of my earliest 3D tries and I have learned a lot after that. Though, I am more into animation now and don't model that much anymore.

Aah, very little of them are on the Internet. I haven't made a proper showreel. Shame on me!

And the last thing i'm having a problem with bones, like when i set the bones on an arm, and put the skin modifier on the arm, when i use the bones it doesn't follow the mesh properly, I've tried the edit envelopes thing but doesn't work, the bones are even worse after that... :(

That's so awesome. It reminds me a lot of the star from the Super Mario Galaxy series.
